With the recently released 3.00x version of firmware for the SAM4S SPS2000, SAM4S has added support for the Avery 6712 scale and applications that weigh product in ounces. The new feature makes the SPS2000 a perfect choice for the growing number of self-serve frozen yogurt shops that sell their product by the ounce.

Unlike other cash register and point of sale solutions, the SPS2000 can now connect to scales that weigh in ounces and correctly deduct the container weight (also known as tare weight) to comply with state weights and measures regulations.

According to a story in the Orange County Register, "Over the next five years frozen yogurt sales are expected to climb from $1.7 billion to nearly $2.7 billion based on a report by market researcher Packaged Facts."

The addition of the price by ounce capability and scale interface compliment the already strong quick service features on the SPS2000.
